I didn’t ask for many of the challenges that life threw at me! For sure.

BUT, I can say with certainty that each time I stepped up to the challenge, endured it, processed it, learned from it and grew strength, wisdom and newfound knowledge from it,

Which has made me infinitely more strong, wise, resilient, flexible and confident that I can survive outside of my comfort zone.

We don’t have to actually be broken to rebuild ourselves, our communities and our country to be stronger!

But, sometimes when we have been on the receiving end of any of life’s many insults, injuries, injustices or unwanted detours,

the inclination can be to opt out of the fray, stay small and safe, and not live into the full expression of your power.

This is an encouragement for you to stay strong, stay in the game, re-center, recharge and then move into your full power and potential!

There is no greater power than the collective voice of strong women, rebuilt and demanding their place at the table.

When is LESS actually MORE?

Well, often on vacation, you may discover that you really like doing LESS in order to really relax and enjoy MORE!

And, when you have worked your butt off to maximize your career and work experiences over the course of your life, you may be ready for the LESS is MORE phase of life.

What is this magical LESS is MORE phase of life?

The LESS is MORE phase of life is that sweet spot where you are able to clearly see, gather and harness all your strengths, skills, knowledge and wisdom you have built up over the course of your life, and

rework all your dense expertise into a fresh new path that

maximizes your unique expertise, while saving you time, energy and the hustle of doing “all the things,” forever……

I know for myself,

🛞I will NEVER again work as many hours as I did when I was a litigation partner in my attorney days.

🛞II will NEVER try to see 30 clients a week, like I did in my private psychotherapy practice.

🛞II will NEVER work for an institution that does not value my full range of skills, interests and abilities!

Blow up your own life preserver first!

When we have the privilege of being on vacation, I almost always invest in a $10 blow up toy for floating.

I LOVE to float on water.

In fact, it's one of my favorite things to do…on ANY type of flat water.

Lakes.

Pools.

Rivers.

Sure, I can swim, but I love the EASE of relaxing, half in and half out of the water.

Which, of course, means that I have to blow up my own float toy… which can be a royal pain.

(Many times my very kind spouse helps me!!!)

YET,

If I am going to truly enjoy myself, I know that having a “floaty” will make all the difference in my enjoyment.

The relaxation and ease I experience is well worth the $10 a vacation investment, even though we never bring them home.

💥Julia Child published her first cookbook at age 50.

I switched careers after 14 years of practicing law, at age 41.

It was the best move I ever made!

I was tired of working for big companies who didn’t even really need the money I was saving them by defending them.

It wasn’t why I went into the law in the first place.

I truly thought that I would be able to help people and effect change….

Then, the magnitude of my law school loans required working for a big law firm, with big clients and eventually, a sense of purposelessness that was impossible to shake.

Very odd…

Just like the fact each of our two oldest kids share the same February 28th birthday…

Or the fact we each have younger brothers who are twins….

Or the fact that we were both competitive athletes in college (me - tennis, her - basketball).

BUT the similarities end there… as her college basketball accomplishments are NEXT LEVEL! 🏀 🏀

This weekend we got to travel to her alma mater Vassar College for a lovely ceremony honoring those few players that have scored over 1000 points as undergrads.

She weighed in at 1540 points - holding the top scoring record for nearly 2 decades. 🏆

Since that time, she has raised a few absolutely amazing kids and

has impacted countless lives of her high school students in the last 25 plus years of her teaching career. 🌟

She is humble and a quiet, strong leader.

And, of course, she is the best wife and partner I could ever ask for. 😍

So, just taking a moment to celebrate the amazing woman, Kirsten Vogt Kinsmith, my wife, best friend, co-parent and quiet superstar!

Thanks for being an inspiration for us all! 🥰

Do you ever feel like the drooping plant on the left?
The poor plant was looking pretty worn out and tired after the holidays.
🌟 Of course, all it needed was a little water and a tiny trim up and it was back to its perky self in no time!
It is such a hardy little thing, I often take this office plant for granted….
I started this cutie from a larger plant, a few years back, when I started my then new coaching business.
The parent plant is still thriving in my living room.
This offspring has truly become its own, thriving new self.
(Just like my business!)
✅ I love that we can create a whole new plant by simply taking an existing plant and giving it the right environment to grow and thrive on its own!
Sure it needs a little extra TLC in the beginning, as its new roots begin to grow and stabilize.
But, once it has had some time on its own, it becomes a hardy, new thriving plant!
A plant that can withstand the occasional drought or neglect and still bounce back to thriving in no time.
🌟 You, too, can take some time to redesign your life in fresh new ways that light you up!
It is never too late to make a fresh start and become new, thriving versions of yourself in the next chapter of your life!
You don’t have to go out and get a whole new job, a new spouse, or a new house to get a fresh start!
🌟 Rather, all you need to do is make sure you have some good soil and some TLC from a mentor who has been there and knows what you need!

Chapter 13 on Resistance just helped me work through a pesky road rage incident….😬 You know, the kind of incident where someone does something super dangerous near you and you completely lose your sh*& ?
